Abstract
This presentation is primarily concerned with the measurement of electric and magnetic fields radiated from arcs produced on London Underground trains when the pick-up shoe separates from the conductor rail at gaps between sections of the conductor rail. The characteristics of arcs within the London Underground environment have been studied with the aim of proposing methods for detection and subsequent suppression.
