Abstract :
This paper presents the design and evaluation of a performance control algorithm related with notification service. In notification service systems, the filtering needs much time. In the past few years, there has been much research done on efficient filtering algorithms. We address the problem from another perspective: control the number of events entering the system to guarantee the performance. First, we construct the simulation model for the notification service. The simulation has been built based on the current OMG notification service specification model. Second, we design the fuzzy-smith controller for the system. Fuzzy-smith control, which adopts fuzzy logic inference and rule base, is very effective for the large delay-time system and robust to the changes of system parameters. Third, we apply the controller to the simulation and obtain the results. Finally, we compare the proposed fuzzy-smith control with the proportional integral smith (PI-Smith) control by simulation. The results showed that the fuzzy-smith controller outperforms the PI-Smith under such conditions that are different from the operating point chosen in the design
