Abstract :
Summary form only given. To generate an extremely ultrashort optical pulse, intensive spectral broadening of the pulse is the key technology. To broaden the spectrum, induced-phase modulation (IPM) with more than two pulses has an advantage over self-phase modulation (SPM) with one pulse. However, the spectral phase behavior of IPM is not clear yet. Thus, it is essential to know the frequency-dependent phase characteristics for chirp compensation. We experimentally investigated complicated phase characteristics for ultrabroad-band pulses generated by IPM in a fused-silica fiber.
