Abstract
A design procedure is proposed. A 2D linear-phase FIR filter prototype is first constructed using semidefinite programming (SDP) and is decomposed into several simpler ID filter design problems via the Schur decomposition method (SDM). Each ID filter is then realized by IIR structure using a novel and efficient digital system identification technique called the Discrete-Time Vector Fitting (VFz). An application example shows the algorithm exhibits fast convergence and produces accurate IIR approximants that favors simple and efficient circuit implementation.
