Abstract :
The ANDVT MINTERM (advanced narrowband digital voice manpack terminal) provides secure half-duplex voice, data, and remote keying capabilities for transmission over HF, UHF, VHF, and wireline facilities. These features are provided in a small, low-power, lightweight, rugged package. The MINTERM secure voice utilizes the LPC 10 (linear prediction coding) vocoder to compress the sampled voice signal to 2400 bit/s. The MINTERM COMSEC module encrypts and decrypts the voice and data, and the modem processor conditions the secured signal for interfacing with external equipment. The modem processor provides two analog modems: an HF modem compatible with STANAG 4197, which uses a QPSK multitone (16 and 39 tone) format, is designed to work with narrowband HF radios; and an LOS modem which uses a single-tone DQPSK format compatible with FED-STD-1005 is designed to be used with VHF, UHF radios, and wireline. A digital output is also provided to allow operation with external modems and radios with digital interfaces (such as satellite radios)
