Abstract :
Summary form only given. A newly invented two-crystal pump and probe method with a streak camera was applied to evaluate the gain spectra of Ce:LiSCAF very easily. The technique for measuring the gain spectrum is very convenient because it is not necessary to have a tunable laser to supply the probe beam, and the gain values for different wavelengths can be obtained at the same time. This method can be applied to many other prospective laser materials for any wavelength if two samples of the material are available. Investigation of the gain or excited state absorption properties of prospective laser materials is facilitated.
