Abstract :
With the development of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, a number of different applications have been discussed in the literature. The paper gives a UWB application to detect the distance between the detector and the target, presenting a distance gate detector. The distance detector system consists of oscillating circuit, impulse generator, transmitter, receiver, ADC, signal processing and UWB antennas. UWB signal characteristics are introduced simply. Because the speed of the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) limits the signal digitization, a better solution to the limited ADC speed is introduced briefly. On the detector, the receiver is mainly introduced and a simple target distance algorithm is given; through the simple algorithm in the signal processing cell, the target can be found quickly and accurately.
