Abstract
Summary form only given. We have demonstrated a novel ultrabroadband SESAM based on the AlGaAs/CaF/sub 2/ material system with GaAs absorber. This device supports sub-10-fs pulse operation and, in conjunction with chirped mirrors, potentially allows for widely tunable self-starting pulses without the need for exchanging any cavity optics.
