Abstract :
FlexServ is BellSouth´s service offering utilizing digital crossconnect system (DCS) technology. This type of service has traditionally been defined as the capability for the customer to manage and reconfigure voice and data networks with minimum interaction with the Bell Operating Companies (BOCs). FlexServe is a major element of the overall network management system currently under development. The network control capabilities envisioned include network reconfiguration, monitoring of circuit status, security, and management reports. Under this concept, end users would have the same control over their leased network as they would if they were to build their own private network. Three primary applications of FlexServ are described: circuit consolidation, disaster recovery, and network reconfiguration
