Abstract
A new paradigm exists for power electronics converter design. New packaging and integration schemes have led to concepts such as the power electronic building block (PEBB) that removes low-level design problems and treats converters as a functional assembly. In conjunction with power processor integration, virtual prototyping is becoming commonplace in design and testing. Tools such as the Virtual Test Bed (VTB) are being developed that use improved numerical solver technology and language translators to simulate complicated systems that incorporate new and legacy models at all levels
