Abstract
This study describes a measurement method of the displacement of the high voltage winding due to the mechanical stresses generated during short-circuit tests on transformers. Acceleration sensors were attached to three parts of the high voltage winding of 400 kVA transformer for the data acquisition of the acceleration of the winding according to the magnitude of the short circuit currents. Both the radial and the axial acceleration data of the winding were measured by these sensors. Double integration of the measured acceleration data on time was carried out to calculate the displacement of the transformer winding. From the results, the weak parts of the transformer winding could be found. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed measurement method will be utilized to verify the reliability of the numerical analysis for the calculation of short circuit stresses on transformer winding.
