Abstract :
This paper introduces some of the measurement results of the indoor radio channels at 18 GHz using a pair of horn antennae. The characteristics of the channel with same antennae separations are investigated, and the main results are: (1) The number of multipath components shows a very good fitness to the normal distribution; (2) The average power gain shows a very good fitness to the log-normal distribution; (3) The RMS delay spread is normally distributed; (4) The relative amplitude of each bin has a very good fitness to the log-normal distribution; (5) The path arrival time sequence obeys the modified Poisson distribution rather than the standard Poisson distribution; (6) Using directive antennae for wireless LAN can decrease the RMS delay spread, hence the data transmission rate and the throughput of the future system can be improved
