Abstract
An advanced, general-purpose architecture has been employed in the design and implementation of a next-generation spectroscopy acquisition and analysis platform. The major design goals for the architecture were portability across multiple ´high-end´ computing platforms, extensibility to new spectroscopy hardware and analysis/reporting applications, and seamless operation within a distributed network environment. By employing modern software engineering principles (e.g., adherence to industry standards, object-oriented design, etc.), the key design goals were achieved in an effective, high-performance, portable spectroscopy computing environment.<>
