  • Abstract
As one´s knowledge of gastrointestinal function increases, ambulatory Holter monitoring will continue to be an invaluable tool in research and diagnosis in gastroenterology. The potential of such techniques relies only on the ingenuity and imagination of clinicians, scientists and medical engineers. With the continuing development of miniature transducers and more powerful recording devices, the day may come when the patient effectively carries the investigation laboratory home and enjoys the comfort of their own environment whilst the test procedures take place in a totally unobtrusive and noninvasive manner
