Abstract :
The author describes direct torque control (DTC) which is a new method of induction motor control which provides excellent performance without tachogenerator feedback. New control features are realised which include flux braking and fast starting. It is hoped that DTC drives will bring benefits to many drive applications including those previously reserved solely for DC and servomotor drives
