Abstract :
The operating performances of a low-momentum (<270-MeV/c) n beam are reported. The n beam is obtained by the charge exchange reaction pp to nn at 0 degrees on a liquid hydrogen target. The n beam is used for the study of n-p annihilations with the OBELIX spectrometer. The momentum of each annihilating n is measured with a precision of 3%. The total rate of n s is 3*10/sup -5/ per incident p at 300 MeV/c.<>
