Abstract :
Summary form only given. We analysed, for the first time, the temporal evolution of the nonlinear phase shift of a femtosecond pulse due to cascaded optical rectification (i.e., THz generation) and electro-optic effect. Our experimental results obtained in 43 m zinc blende single crystals agree with our theoretical analysis. The nonlinear phase shift is maximum at /spl Delta/k=0.
