Abstract
A validation technique is described for force-prediction biomechanical models of the lower back. Surface electromyography (EMG) was utilized to examine the correlation between model predictions and experimental findings. Activity, inactivity, and recruitment of lumbar muscles were examined to overcome problems associated with EMG-force relationships in these muscles. Experimental results were strongly correlated with model predictions.<>
