Abstract :
Vascular impedance is a quantity that characterises the properties of the vascular bed. In the large arteries, the impedance has a close relationship to the pulse wave velocity. Due to the elastic properties of an artery, the wall pulsation was used for non-invasive estimation of the pulse wave velocity. Two vessel diameters, longitudinal separated, were measured simultaneously with single element transducers. The agreement between the theoretical relationship and measured data was evaluated on an in vitro model. The results showed a good agreement with the reference in the frequency range 1-10 Hz
