Abstract
In a tissue being coagulated, speed of sound, temperature and tissue thermal damage are related. Such a relationship, however, has not been reported in the literature. The authors used a revised time of flight method to measure in vitro speed of sound in tissues being coagulated. The authors discuss their experimental results in light of other existing time of flight methods. The authors conclude that it is technically difficult to measure precisely and repeatedly speed of sound in a tissue being coagulated
