  • Abstract
Since huge natural price has been paid for Chinese real estate industry development including residential development, the economic value added and environmental impact added should be considered synchronously to evaluate the development roundly and impersonally, which is the concept and methodology of eco-efficiency. In this paper, the product of Floor Space of Residential Building Completed and Selling Price of Residential Building, indicators from annual China Statistical Yearbook, and the ecological footprint are selected as the economic value added and the environmental impact added of residential development respectively, which are also the numerator and denominator in calculating the eco-efficiency value. Then the ecological footprint and eco-efficiency model of residential development are established successively, and based on which Nanjing´s residential development in 2005 is analyzed empirically. Results show that the ecological footprint and eco- efficiency are 459786.88 gha and 48399 RMB yuan per gha respectively, and the latter should be improved greatly due to its smallness.
