Abstract :
This work about PWM-VSR-C claims to identify the possible problems and limitations caused for the inclusion of the active filter function in a three phase PWM rectifier (PWM- VSR-C). First, a study about the capability and limitations of the PWM-VSR-C as a reactive power source is presented, in order to establish if the PWM-VSR-C can reach a partial or full compensation of the polluting load. Second, calculations of apparent power and dc bus voltage requirements, compared with a conventional PWM-VSR function are shown. The next topic is the study about the electric system around the PWM-VSR-C and how it must be considered or re-designed when the active filter function is included. Finally the variation of the losses, due to the inclusion of the active filter function is presented. Finally, experimental results are included to validate the main results.
