Title :
Simulation of capacity and performance of a tiered wireless system
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
A tiered cellular system was simulated to study its RF capacity and call quality performance. Simulation was performed for a 120-degree antenna (three-sector) TDMA system in a real world like environment. Results show that cell tiering can improve RF capacity significantly (30%). However, it slightly degrades C/I performance. The paper explains the reasons of degradation and suggested several methods to improve C/I performance in a tiered cellular system
