Abstract
Presents BellSouth´s perception of Signalling System No.7 (SS7) and some of the plans for this signalling system in its region. The author presents the BellSouth´s existing circuit switched network, and examines the motivation for deploying SS7 and the effects of that deployment. He presents the SS7 architecture that will be used in the BellSouth region and gives the rationale behind this architecture. In addition, he examines plans for SS7-based services and capabilities in both the near and more extended time frames
