Abstract :
Basically, the visibility of color images captured in the foggy weather will be significantly degraded and diminished. This paper proposes a defogging method based on the atmosphere scattering theory and color analysis. The basic strategy is to use RGB color and tri-stimulus values to provide the exponential contrast enhancement technique for enhancing the visibility of a foggy image. Then, the weighted redistribution of probability density function is adopted for increasing the brightness of the above fog-removed image. Besides, a histogram equalization is introduced to improve the contrast of the finally image. Experimental results show that the degraded images captured in the foggy weather can be effectively restored.
