Abstract
The principles and techniques of beam steering with linear arrays have been addressed by others in detail (O.T. von Ramm and S.W. Smith, “Beam steering with linear arrays”, IEEE Trans. Biomed. Eng., vol. BME-30, no. 8, p. 438-52, 1983). This paper discusses a special problem associated with beam steering. An array model was used to investigate the relation between an array´s transmit intensity and steering angle. Simulation results from the model are presented to discuss the relation as a function of array and system parameters. Experimental results, which agree fairly well with the simulation, are also presented to support the discussion
