Abstract :
New generations of cellular technologies, like LTE, are focused primarily in the provision of broadband mobile services with the highest spectral efficiency, but in indoors, the through-the-walls propagation losses could not allow providing mobile services with enough quality. Femtocells have emerged as macrocell alternative to provide indoor coverage without incurring in a high deployment costs. In this paper it is proposed another approach to improve LTE FDD indoor coverage in band VII (2500MHz-2690MHz) from a macrocell. The method takes advantage of the legacy coaxial TV cable transport infrastructure, deployed in buildings, to carry LTE signals, fulfilling 3GPP and Common Telecommunication Infrastructure specifications. Measurements and simulations on users´ premises have validated the LTE indoor coverage improvement using this solution.
