Abstract
Almost all software engineering projects are too complex for one person to manage. Several persons collaborating will be interdependent in their work. The author discusses how state-of-the-art CASE technology does only to a very limited extent support the coordination of the software engineering process. CASE tools provide a repository or encyclopedia in which the intermediate and final products of the development process are stored. A variety of tools access this repository, e.g. analysis and design tools, report generators, prototyping tools, code generation tools and configuration management tools
