Communications security-a European perspective

The article provides an overview of European thinking, policy and action in the domain of communications security. It covers some of the key activities that the European Commission have initiated over the last 10 years in the form of Directives (e.g. on Telecoms, Open Network Provision, INFOSEC), action plans, consultative documents and reports, collaborative research programmes (e.g. RACE, ACTS, Telematics), standardisation and community workshops. It also covers some of the results of related Commission activities in the field of INFOSEC (Security of Information Systems)
