Abstract :
A noise radar system consisting of an array of K transmit antennas and M receive antennas is considered. Two implementations are considered: in the first, a single noise source is, after appropriate phase shifting, transmitted; in the second approach K independent noise sources are transmitted. The two approaches are compared and an architecture for the latter that no longer requires steering phases on transmission is presented. A radar´s ability to avoid detection by surveillance (ESM) receivers is a feature of modern radar design and this aspect of the proposed approaches is compared
