Abstract
The use of monopulse ratio can contribute to track initiation schemes for low observable targets. In this paper, we derive a complete statistical characterization of the joint distribution of amplitude and monopulse ratio under the two hypotheses of target present (H1) and absent (H0). Moreover several track initiation logics, based on likelihood function are derived, for different levels of use of amplitude and monopulse ratio information. The results show that the use of the monopulse information reduces the loss due to antenna gain for targets offset from the antenna beam pointing direction.
