Abstract
It is currently difficult to provide advanced services with high quality when mobile users are roaming in a foreign network, since operators deliver services from platforms in their home networks. This paper presents a solution to support efficient access to services from a location close to the user. This is a key issue in the development of more flexible distributed service platforms, where service components can move, to optimize resource usage and quality of experience for the users. The proposed solution is based on adding the location of the user explicitly in the DNS request and modifying the processing in the DNS server. We show how this can be used to provide an efficient access to services in multiple scenarios.
