Abstract
Some aspects of the implementation of a transceiver for the interface on the network side of the NT1 using the 2B1Q code are discussed with emphasis on those which are considered to require special attention in order to achieve maximum loop coverage. The available maintenance provisions are outlined together with some extensions, enabling adaptation of the maintenance possibilities to specific national requirements as well as to enhancements which may become desirable in the future. The maintenance capabilities are shown to support adequate and economic maintenance of the ISDN (integrated services digital network) customer access
