Summary form only given. This paper explains the process being used at the IBM electronic card and test facility in Austin, Texas to gain ownership and commitment through the involvement of manufacturing personnel in process re-engineering. The approach is simple and straight-forward, encompassing shared vision and values, organization, staffing, roles and responsibilities, measurements and the manufacturing process itself. Process results and customer feedback reflect the employees´ enthusiastic commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
