Abstract
Attention has recently been given to the development of intelligent transport systems (ITS) in Hong Kong in order to improve the traffic condition and make efficient use of the available resources. Many cities have embarked on efforts to pursue ITS development, but this has proved that various ITS applications are being emphasised in different cities in accordance to the unique nature of the local transport system and the characteristics of the local environment. There is a need for Hong Kong to develop an ITS strategy for long-term deployment plan. This paper provides a review and an evaluation of the potential ITS applications in Hong Kong
