Abstract
Multiperiod planning provides cost efficient solutions for long-term operated networks by taking time dependent input into account. To ensure the operation of the network services, even in the event of a failure, the implementation of resilience methods (fault management) is considered. In this paper two different schemes of protection and their suitability for multiperiod operated networks are studied. Benefits are expected by adapting protections schemes which can evolve over time (configuration management). Thus, we compare Shared Backup Path Protection with 1+1 Protection using two different multiperiod approaches, Incremental planning for an upper bound and End-of-Life planning for a lower bound of the network costs.
