Abstract :
Available transfer capability (ATC) is a relatively new concept and plays an increasingly significant role in the power industry deregulated environment. Calculating It involves many technical challenges including total transfer capability calculation, transient stability constraint handling, transmission capability margins and probabilistic ATC calculation, etc. In the paper, several technical challenges and the existing methods solving them are reviewed respectively. Some suggestions for dealing with the technique challenges are given for the future research.
