Abstract :
This paper summarizes the PHY layer of the IEEE 802.15.7 Standard for Short-Range Wireless Optical Communication using Visible Light, and highlights issues that drove the technical content. The discussion explains the modulation formats developed in the standard and then shows how these formats are modified to maintain LED light visibility and support dimming while preventing perceivable flicker.
