Abstract

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (the HITECH Act of 2009) was enacted in 2009 to speed up the adoption of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems among the healthcare providers in the USA, however the standards of Meaningful Use of EHR was not released until July 2010. This study uses Difference-In-Difference model to analyze the revenue growth rate of EHR software developers and finds that the HITECH Act of 2009 delayed the revenue growth of EHR firms until 2011.
