Abstract :
We have studied atmospheric pressure plasma generated using a quartz tube, helium gas and foil electrode by applying radio frequency and high voltage. The atmospheric pressure plasma with form of bullet is released like as a plume into the atmosphere. To study the characteristics of the atmospheric pressure plasma, the plasma current is measured using a current probe and the electron drift velocity is measured using a photo detector. The plasma circulation and plume currents are estimated from the circuit currents. The plasma plume density is examined from the plasma plume current and the drift velocity. The plasma plume charge is estimated as about 23 nAs at around 5.0 slm. The plasma density on the plasma released into the atmosphere is estimated as ~1018 m-3.
