Abstract :
The author describes the systematic process that has logically determined the testability techniques used in products at GTE Communication Systems. The process consists of goal definition, environment definition, methodology and technology review, methodology selection, and implementation. It is emphasized that the process was, but should not be, a single-pass project. Repeated iterations are necessary to ensure proper results. Since technology is in a state of continuous evolution, the process should be repeated as often as necessary to assure that the proper testability techniques are available. The author explores the systematic generation, implementation, and results of testability planning
