Abstract :
Modeling and simulation are used to evaluate the real-time performance of software applications in telecommunications networks. The methodology has been used to support the development of Northern Telecom´s Dynamic Network Controller (DNC) family of products. The approach has been used to model several large software applications, namely, the Transport Services Management (TSM) and the Business Network Management (BNM) products. The results allow the performance impact on future configurations and demands to be evaluated at early stages, thereby assisting the design process. A major saving in the modeling effort results from the use of a common DNC-based model in these two applications
