Abstract :
An advanced automatic full-custom design method for high-performance application-specific digital signal processors (ASDSP) is described. The system allows a circuit to be developed with a rich mix of design techniques, including generators/macrocells, transistor and logic schematics, and C program descriptions. A suite of tools provides effective automatic transistor sizing and a cell compiler based automatic layout system. This allows the design of full-custom high-performance circuits with the same ease and design speed as standard cell and gate array systems. A high-performance (60 MHz) FIR (finite impulse response) filter is presented as an example of the method´s capability
