Abstract
A new concept of configuration for fusion of magnetized plasma is proposed. The feasibility of ignition for this configuration is investigated. A two dimensional magneto-hydrodynamic code (MHD) is developed to simulate the target forming process of field reversed configuration (FRC), while a one dimensional radiation magneto-hydrodynamic code is developed to study the temperature rising and ignition during the process of imploding compression of the magnetized plasma. The 2D MHD simulating results show that the proper target of magnetized plasma under suitable parameters for imploding compression can be formed. The ignition of the target can be achieved through a new mechanism, which is named as the local center ignition (LCI) model.
