Abstract
In this paper, we reveal that the top 500 Chinese firms´ operating revenues and their ranks completely obey the Zipf distribution with exponents of 1 in recent six years. Similar distribution can be confirmed in some other countries. It universally exists in many economic systems of the world. Based on simple multiplicative process model with the proper distribution of random multiplicator drawn from the real data, we reproduce the Zipf phenomenon after several simulation steps.
