Abstract :
The state-dependent arrival process of a hierarchical overflow queueing system is examined and an iterative scheme is developed for its solution. The limitations of previous solutions to this problem are overcome, and application to a class of channel-access engineering problems in broadband ISDN (integrated services digital network) is discussed. The potential benefits of an iterative technique are contrasted with solutions reached by algebraic techniques. Results from a computer implementation of the iterative technique are presented
