  • Abstract
Nanosecond and sub-nanosecond high voltage pulses can provide new biological applications. A cancer treatment by an ultra-short pulse high electric field is one of them. High power pulsed electromagnetic wave has been proposed to apply the high electric field for that treatment. This work focuses on the design of a compact high power pulsed electromagnetic wave generator using a nanosecond pulsed power generator for the biological applications. For this purpose, we have developed a high frequency cluster burst pulse generator based on a SOS diode. The generator uses a magnetic switch and the SOS diode with current cutoff time of nanoseconds. The generator outputs the multiple damping oscillation pulses like burst pulses in a cluster state continuously. In this study, we improved the control of the output frequency and the duration of the output pulse of the cluster burst pulse electromagnetic wave generator. A 1/4 wavelength cable that can get single frequency component by resonating in a circuit is employed. In this circuit, the output frequency of the pulse can be controlled by changing the cable length. The output frequency is controllable by changing the cable length. By using LC oscillation by the inductance of magnetic switch, the capacitance of C1 and parasitic capacitance of SOS diode, during the half cycle of the oscillation of the transformer, the number of the burst pulses and the duration of the burst pulse increased.
