Abstract :
This paper presents the design and construction of distributed voltage measurement device for an insulator of a string insulator. Using the same dimension of two spheres (20 millimeter diameter) with various gap spacings (5, 7, 10 millimeters), the distributed voltages of the insulators of the string insulators were measured in percentage. The tested results compared with the results obtained from the high voltage probe measurement with the oscilloscope were not quite different. For two suspension insulators of the string insulators, it was found that the voltage across the line-end insulator was about 52% - 58% of the line voltage. The voltage shared on the earth-end insulator was approximate 42% - 48%. For three suspension insulators of the string insulators, the voltage across the line-end insulator was about 39% 49% of the line voltage. The voltages across each of the remainders of the insulators towards the earth-end of the strings insulator were 20% - 27% and 28% - 33% respectively.
