Abstract :
The spectra of Eu3+-doped Y2SiO5 crystal were detected. The Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters Omega2 , Omega4 and Omega6 were calculated according to the absorption spectra, and were equal to 4.36 times 10 -20 cm2, 0.74 times 10-20 cm2 and 1.074 times 10-20 cm 2, respectively. Persistent spectral hole burning (PSHB) were also observed at the temperature of 4.2K in the crystal. For 15mW dye laser (wavelength: 579.62nm ) burning the crystal immerged in liquid helium for 1 second a spectral hole with about 10MHz hole width were detected and the hole can keep for larger than 24 hours
