Abstract :
Clinical application of bioprosthetic heart valves has been severely limited by the lack of valve durability. Among other contributing factors, one of the most evident is the stress and strain distribution in the leaflets. The focus of this paper is on the development of a new imaging technique to monitor the surface deformation of the leaflet under physiological conditions. The 3-D deformations of leaflet surfaces corresponding to the different phases of one cardiac cycle are reconstructed
